2025-26 Girls Basketball Season Recap

The 2025–26 girls basketball season for the Valor Christian Eagles was one defined not just by wins on the court, but by a journey of trust, perseverance, and and identity of belovedness. Finishing the  season 23–4 overall and undefeated in league play at 11–0, the Eagles continued their dominant run in Class 6A Jeffco, extending their conference win streak and positioning themselves among the top teams in the state.

Valor's play this year combined explosive offense, tough defense, and a balance of seasoned leadership and rising talent. Senior standout Peyton Jones led the way as a go-to scorer and dynamic playmaker, while Camryn Gunter provided strength on the boards and inside presence. The backcourt and wing rotation consistently pressured opponents, and contributions from underclassmen added depth and spark throughout the season. Additionally anchored by fellow seniors Emma Kerschen and Sophia Rose, the leadership was strong and consistent.

Along the way, the Eagles notched signature non-conference wins — including road victories early in the season, continuing a remarkable run that has seen Valor grip the top of the Jeffco standings again for the fifth year in 6A.

But beyond the record and statistics, the 2025–26 season reflected a deeper theme: being the beloved— understanding that individuals and as a collective, the team is truly loved by the Lord. It became a fitting frame for a year that invited the team to love well and be loved, despite outcomes they could not dictate — learning to lean into process, trust teammates, and honor effort regardless of circumstance.

This mindset showed up in the way the Eagles responded to adversity, supported one another through injuries and lineup changes, and continued to compete with poise against top-tier competition week after week.

In league play, Valor continued a remarkable streak of success, building on a stretch of Jeffco dominance that now spans multiple seasons and sees the Eagles consistently pushing toward yet another league title.

Although the season ended in a loss in the Great 8 with another Eagles trip to the Coliseum, the season was truly one that will build on a strong foundation of Valor Girls Basketball.

It's defined by what it built:

  • A group of young women who competed with courage

  • A roster that embraced roles both big and small

  • A coaching staff committed to development and heart

  • And a culture that looked beyond wins to matters of character and identity

In the end, the greatest victory of the 2025–26 Eagles may not be found in a bracket, but in the understanding that every challenge — every close game, tough loss, and gritty win — brought the team closer to the truth that transcends the gym:

We are not our worst day.
We are not our best day.

We are BELOVED.
