After a lifetime career in public education, Mr. Byler felt called to ministry as one of the founding faculty at Valor Christian in 2007. Prior to his current role as an Assistant Athletic Director and Head Golf Coach, Mr. Byler's roles over his tenure at Valor have included History Department Chair, Head Basketball Coach, Enrollment Coordinator, and Boys Golf Chaplain, as well as serving as the public address announcer for Valor sports programs.

Prior to his appointment, he taught in the Jeffco Public School District where he was awarded Dakota Ridge Teacher of the Year. He also served the physically and mentally disabled students in the Warwick School District in Pennsylvania, and was an Undergraduate Financial Aid/NCAA Scholarship Coordinator at Colorado Christian University. He is a member of the Penn State Football Letterman's Club and a former Member of the National Association of Public Address Announcers.

Under the leadership of Coach Byler, the Valor Boys and Girls Golf programs have seen tremendous success. In 2020, he led the boys team to a 5A State Championship. His team's success continued as he led the girls to four straight 5A State Championships (2022-2025) while being named Colorado 5A Coach of the Year in each of the past 5 school years (Boys 20-21, Girls 21-22, 22-23, 23-24, 24-25).

In his many years at Valor, Mr. Byler has been awarded Department of the Year for History and Athletics and has been named the Valor Exemplar.
