EAGLES AVENGE EARLY SEASON LOSS

Just five weeks ago, Valor lost their first game of the CHSAA season to Ralston Valley in a 4-3 overtime defeat.  With that loss still fresh in their minds, the Eagles were prepared to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

Ralston Valley started the game with heavy checking pressure which seemed to pay off as they scored to take a 1-0 lead. However their physical game got them into penalty trouble. Valor tied the game at 1-1 on a power play goal by senior Alec Alfieri. Later in the period senior Owen Walsh scored on a great individual effort to give Valor a 2-1 lead.

In the second period, Ralston Valley scored to tie the game at 2-2 but shortly afterwards, senior Aiden Owen scored Valor's second power play goal of the game to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead.

As the third period got underway, the Mustangs once again committed a penalty infraction and senior Garrett Covney made them pay for their mistake by scoring Valor's third power play goal of the game and a 4-2 Valor lead.

Late in the game, Valor got into penalty trouble and had to kill off almost two minutes of being two men short. Led by junior goaltender Cooper Robinson, the Eagles stayed strong and gave Ralston Valley no hope for a comeback as they pushed through the final few minutes to take a hard fought 4-2 win.

Valor finished 3 for 4 on the power play while outshooting Ralston Valley 43-28.
