Valor Girls Swim and Dive competed at the Jeffco Invite at the Arvada Aquatics Center in a meet run with prelims on Friday, Jan. 16 and finals the following day, Saturday Jan. 17. The team showed clear improvement as the meet progressed. Valor swam well in prelims to advance athletes across multiple events, then broke through in finals with high finishes. The Valor eagles kicked off their finals competition with the 200 medley relay, where Ellie Wiesen,
Keira Browning,
Hanna Prutsman, and
Natalie Heydt earned a first place finish with a time of 1:49.93. Ellie Wiesen added another win in the 200 IM and later finished second in the 100 freestyle.
Kayla Hunt scored high for the eagles placing second in the 200 freestyle. Later in the meet,
Hanna Prutsman finished third in the 100 butterfly and
Lisa Kachmar took third in a competitive 50 freestyle, earning a 5A state cut. Valor also scored in diving through Marin Wyatt. Marin earned 358.55 points and secured a spot on the year's state team. In total, Valor advanced 11 swimmers to finals, turning strong preliminary swims into podium finishes and consistent scoring across the finals session.
