Born and raised in Arvada, CO, Coach Jayne McHugh graduated from Arvada West High School. She participated on 4 State Championship teams in basketball, volleyball and track. She was named the 1977 Colorado Sportswoman of the year and was the Steinmark Award winner as well.  She played Division I college volleyball at the University of the Pacific where she participated in an AIAW National Championship and 2 NCAA Final Fours. McHugh was a 3-time All-American and graduated Cum Laude, securing an NCAA Post Graduate scholarship. She joined the USA National Volleyball Team in 1985, eventually being named to the 1988 Olympic Team. She was a Pan American Bronze Medalist and received the 1988 Player’s Award, given to the athlete that best represents USA Volleyball on and off the court. Her coaching career began in 1989 at the University of the Pacific, working with the great John Dunning as an assistant and associate head coach before taking the reigns in 2000. She mentored numerous All-Americans and coached in 16 NCAA tournaments, including two Final Fours.  McHugh coached at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, CA before returning home to Colorado in 2019. She is a member of several Halls of Fame including the Colorado High School Hall of Fame, the University of the Pacific Hall of Fame, the NFHS National Hall of Fame and the WCC (West Coast Conference) Hall of Honor. She and her husband Tom have been married for over 37 years and have two sons; Ryan (31) and Jack (28). They love to ski, cook, travel and fly fish.
