The starting lineup for Valor's Senior Night game were all members of the senior class and it didn't take them long to make an impact on the game. Just :45 seconds after the opening face off, senior Connor Politi fired a hard wrist shot from the slot past a completely screened Red Hawks goaltender to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later, senior Ronan Hirschfield scored on the power play to put Valor up 2-0.
During the first intermission, the seniors and their parents were honored in a ceremony on the ice. With the rest of the team watching the ceremony, one-by-one the seniors escorted their parents onto the ice amid applause from the spectators. The eleven seniors included Ashton Joseph, Austin Donaldson, Connor Politi, Drew Jenkins, Eddie Chen, Elijah Fischer, Lucas Scott, Nathan Bremer, Noah King, Race Baird and Ronan Hirschfield.
Early in the second period, senior Ronan Hirschfield scored his second goal of the game on the power play. Less than two minutes later, junior Maddux Charles scored another power play goal to increase Valor's lead to 4-0.
Cheyenne Mountain took advantage of a coverage breakdown in Valor's end zone to narrow the lead to 4-1. Later in the period, junior Hoyt Sorensen scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to make it 5-1.
The Eagles added two more in the third period on markers by senior Drew Jenkins and freshman Dawson Charles to make the final score 7-1.
Sophomore goaltender Lucas Jordan had a quiet night as he was called on to make only 6 saves.
The Eagles were dominant throughout the game out shooting their opponent by a whopping 47-6 margin while Valor's power play was outstanding scoring four times in five chances.
